Grades 7 & 8 have been singing various songs of freedom. Students are discussing the functions of these songs as an expression of patriotic values and sentiments. Students are preparing a class performance of "The Presidents Rap". They are working diligently in small groups to create verses for our current President. The verse will include proper rhythm to connect with all the other verses, creative dynamics and tone color. Each group will perform their verses and add various percussion instruments to create a dynamic effect.

Grade 6 is enjoying the world of opera. The students have been following the libretto for Gian Carlo Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors". Students are learning about  various opera houses such as The Metropolitan Opera House, La Scala in Milan, Covent Gardens in London and the Paris opera house. Students are  enjoying the costumes and scenery of the opera world, vocal quality and range and what it takes to become an opera singer. 

Grade 5 has been studying American Work Songs and the stories that made them famous. They have created their own movements to express the patterns and stories of the music.

Grade 4 have been learning new sounds and notes on the recorder. The students are working diligently to attain their yellow and orange tassels.

Grades 1, 2 and 3 are studying the unique ways that Chinese people celebrate the New Year. Chinese New Year is February 16 and the classes have been performing various songs with drums, woodblocks, bells, scarves and dragons.

Grade K has been focusing on songs about animals. The children have created movements for the "Five Puppies" song, "The Kittens" and the famous "Noah's Ark". Students are all collaborating to give the music their very best performance.
