Art Projects for November-December:

A Study of Central American and South American Art: 
Students use reference photo material to design a composition based upon the art and culture of a specific country.  They select two complementary colored composition paper and draw a central drawing and a border design from the same culture.  The composition is colored with oil pastels and crayons in the colors that are found in their reference material. 

The Art of Matisse:  Students create a composition based upon the artist, and his famous painting the red room.  They are instructed to design a composition that shows two views in one drawing.  Matisse was a Fauve Artist.  He is known for his bright opposite colors and interesting layouts.  They color their drawing with mixed media, blended crayons and oil pastels
